Robin Ames Memorial Scholarship

About Our Scholarship Program:

Robin Ames Memorial Scholarship will support three (3) West Virginia students. Scholarship amount will be $2,000 ($1,000 per semester) for the students' first year in college.

Our goal is to support three students who embody Robin's values of curious exploration, problem-solving, and building community. We are looking for students who have innovative ideas and fresh voices to help us educate this generation about the dangers of distracted driving.

Scholarship Winners

We are excited to announce the winners of the Robin Ames Memorial Scholarship. Congratulations to all recipients! We are excited to support your continued education. Below you will see the winners for the 2023- 2024 year and the 2024-2025 year.

  • Colin "Heath" Montgomery

    Hurricane HS | Hurricane, WV Scholarship Winner 2023 -2024

    Colin will be attending WVU Statler College of Engineering where he will major in Mechanical Engineering.

    Coin was the Hurricane High School Varsity Football Team Captain and Track Team Captain. He worked to receive his certification in Collision and Autobody Repair at Putnam Career and Technical Center where he is the shop leader. Colin puts these skills to use as he takes on additional projects at Walker Autobody. Colin maintains a stellar academic record while also working and helping to caretake for his younger siblings.

  • Jordyn Herter

    University HS | Morgantown, WV Scholarship Winner 2023-2024

    Jordyn will be attending WVU for Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering this fall.

    She has been active in the National Honors Society, the soccer team, high school band, and color-guard. She is also President of Hawk Industries and Vice President of the Technology Student Association at her high school.

  • Levi Morris

    Calhoun County HS | Grantsville, WV Scholarship Winner 2023-2024

    Levi is from Mt. Zion and will be attending WVU Statler College of Engineering.

    Levi has played basketball since he was young. He plays for Calhoun County High School and also volunteers for the Calhoun Cunty youth basketball league. Levi is a hard worker and maintained his own lawn care job on his summer break.

    Levi became interested in engineering when tasked with building a bridge out of simple wooden materials. This project strengthened his skills with team work, design, and budget management. Levi loves to be outdoors and spends much of his free time fishing.

  • Skylar Nash

    NIcholas County HS | Summerville, WV Scholarship Winner 2023-2024

    Skylar plans on attending WVU where she will major in Biomedical Engineering.

    Skylar serves as secretary for the NCHS National Honor Society and is an active volunteer with the chapter. She has played varsity softball for four years. Cheerleading was an important part of her life until she suffered a career ending injury, which challenged her to reassess her appreciation of all she is capable of outside of sports.

    Skylar is an avid volunteer, sharing her time with Double K Farms were she takes care of horses and reading at the local elementary schools.

  • Cole Lambert

    Grafton HS | Grafton, WV Scholarship Winner 2024-2025

    Cole will be majoring in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at West Virginia University.

    Cole is captain of his varsity football and track teams and is a member of the National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. He attended American Legion Mountaineer Boys State and has worked as a lifeguard at Tygart Lake.

  • Joshua Hardesty

    Cabell Midland HS | Hurricane, WV Scholarship Winner 2024-2025

    Joshua will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Marshall University.

    Joshua has been involved in Speech and Debate, Robotics, and Student Council. He had the privilege of traveling to the Green Bank Observatory and conducting research with scientists, which helped spark his interest in scientific research.

  • Chase Herr

    East Fairmont HS | Fairmont, WV Scholarship Winner 2024-2025

    Chase will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering at West Virginia University.

    Chase is captain of his cross country team, member of the National Honor Society, and volunteer with Lads to Leaders. He also sings at church and works at Winner’s Choice.
